Dear Tamar,
We are very much looking forward to speaking to you tomorrow at 6pm Tbilisi time and my apologies for the delay in getting these questions over to you.
Here is the link to join us on the call: https://squadcast.page.link/mJKv
I'm detailing here some technical information in advance so that we can get as good a recording as possible, and I will also run through these points at the beginning of the call:
Equipment:
- Please wear headphones plugged into the computer
- I'm not sure which of you has recording equipment or not, but our ideal situation is for you to have a microphone plugged into the computer and then hold the audio recorder very close to your mouth during the call (this way we can record via the call and also on your device to see which is better)
- If you do not have an external microphone and only one that's within your headphones please try not to touch or move the microphone too much or let it rub against your shirt
- If you do not have an audio recorder we would ask you to use your smartphone, which we will ask you to hold up to your mouth (and have on airplane mode)
Other points for a good quality recording:
- Please find as quiet a room as possible where you won't be interrupted
- Try not to be near a window where traffic or outside noises will occur
- A room with soft furnishings is great (a living room or bedroom rather than a kitchen for example)
- Check for anything that may cause a 'hum' in the background of the recording (fridge or fan for example)
- Close down all programmes running and all browser tabs on your computer (especially closing anything that is going to ping or beep! - email, whatsapp!)
- Again, we will also run through these on the call with you.
Here also is an idea of the questions we will ask, as requested:
1. Could you provide a brief overview of Georgia's experience of Covid-19, to put it into context for international readers please? [i.e rough number of cases and success in containing the virus, any international praise the government has received from international bodies such as WHO or other countries, the Georgian public]
2. What difference did it make, in terms of Georgia's response, to have this resource [of the team producing Okrapid research and systematic reviews, or other aspects of the ERA platform] available to the government/policymakers?
3. What difference did having this system and information make to Georgia's success in handling this crisis/pandemic, in terms of the speed of decision-making, of influencing or helping policy-making, informing the public and ultimately, to protecting people and saving lives?
4. How has using rapid research/the ERA platform, during this crisis changed or strengthened any relationships between researchers and decision-makers?
5. How has the Alliance or the ERA platform/system helped Georgia to better respond to the current crisis?
6. Has the work done on Covid changed the level of demand for rapid reviews and use of the ERA platform/embedded research in the Ministry of Health?
Finally, could ask that you sign and return the consent form attached to us? That would be great.
Very many thanks and looking forward to speaking with you.

Dear Tamar -
That would be great for us, we're looking forward to speaking to you then.
On Monday I will send you an idea of the type of things we'd like to discuss with you as well as some information on the technical side of the recording. In the meantime if you have access to some headphones (it doesn't matter what type) that would be great. Also, it's very helpful for us to make a back up recording, so if you have access to any audio equipment such as a dictaphone that would be great, and also a microphone that can either plug into the computer or into the dictaphone. If you do not have equipment like this don't worry, we can make the back up recording on your phone. Headphones, however, are quite important for the call.
Many thanks and warm regards,
Jodie Taylor

Dear Mrs. Tamar Gabunia,
It's great to be in touch with you, we have heard much about your wonderful work from the Curatio team. Thank you very much for agreeing to an interview recorded via video call, this shouldn't take up more than 15 minutes of your time (and perhaps 10 minutes or so before to set up).
I will follow this email very shortly with an idea of the topics we'll touch on, in the meantime would Wednesday 27th May be possible for this interview? We can be flexible with time apart from 1pm-2pm Tbilisi time as we have another interview then. I'm sure you are very busy, so if Wednesday doesn't work for you we could also do earlier in the week next week? Just let us know a day and time.
Very many thanks,
Jodie Taylor
