Dear First Deputy Minister Gabunia, Ms Kasradze, Ms Kavtaradze,

In view of the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic the European Commission (DG SANTE) would like to organize an information session with neighbouring countries through video conference on 17 March, 17.00 (Georgian time). The object of the video conference would be to gain a better understanding of the situation of EU neighbours possible needs of assistance and an exchange of views between public health professionals.

The meeting would have the following draft agenda:

1.      Opening of the meeting

2.      EU response - European Commission

3.      Overview about the epidemiological situation in the EU and the NEAR countries - ECDC and WHO Euro, additional comments by countries

4.      Response measures in place

5.      Preparedness and specific needs of countries

6.      Discussion and next steps

7.      AOB

Please let us know whether you would be in the position to join in this video conference. Optimally, we would like to have 1-2 representatives from each neighbourhood country. We would share your contact details (or details of your colleagues you designate) with DG SANTE so that they can reach out to you to set up the video conference.

Best regards
