On behalf of Fadi El-Jardali (host and facilitator of this Satellite session), we are honored and looking forward to your participation in today's Session, titled “Innovative Models of Institutional Arrangements to Support Evidence-Informed Policymaking and Action in Six WHO Regions” which will be held Wednesday 31th of March 2021 from 16.00 - 17.30 Gulf Standard Time (Dubai time). We would highly appreciate it, if you can login to the session 30 minutes earlier, to allow us, to support you in the best way possible, and ensure that sound and video preparations are completed.

Please find below a brief overview of the session (attached also is the session outline): 

  • 16.00-16.05: Welcome and introduction to session outline  (Fadi El-Jardali) 
  • 16.05-16.10: Rationale for Establishment of Mentorship program (Abdul Ghaffar, Alliance for HPSR at WHO) 
  • 16.10-16.20: Overview of K2P Mentorship Program (Fadi El-Jardali) 
  • 16.20-16.50: Key insights and reflections from six peer mentee institutions (six mentee institutions)
  • 16.50-17:15 Panel Discussion (6 selected policymakers and stakeholders) 
  • 17:15-17.30: Questions from Audience & Wrap up 

For the panel discussion, we would like to first thank the esteemed policymakers and stakeholders for accepting the invitation to take part in this panel discussion. The panel discussion will be organized around two rounds of questions (these will be slightly tailored to your context): 

  • First round (2-3 minutes per panelist): Each panelist will reflect on his/her experience with the mentorship program (either directly or indirectly) and its influence on their work (e.g. changes in culture & attitude towards evidence use, & strengthened relationship with research institutions, new institutional products, programs, policies to support evidence) 
  • Second round (2-3 minutes per panelist): Each panelist will respond to the following question: How can we re-imagine the relationships between research and policymaking institutions to strengthen and institutionalize evidence-informed policymaking for better health and social justice (with emphasis on the role the respective mentee institution can play in this process)?
