Please find below the connection details of the press conference being held tomorrow 22 March at 14:30.
Also we would like to invite you to join the World TB Day Poetry Challenge on Workplace. This is an idea initiated by EURO colleagues. Here are the details.
If you would like to join us in the TB Poetry Challenge, just follow the instructions below.
1. Find a poem or extract of prose by a writer that suffered from TB, it may or may not allude in some way to the disease.
2. Set yourself up for a video selfie.
3. If the quote is not in English, briefly explain the meaning of what you are about to read and who wrote it, or write these details in your post.
4. Read out loud to camera in your native language
5. Aim to make the whole thing 30 seconds or less.
6. Post your video to Workplace with #WTBDPoetryChallenge
Last, Tereza has asked to share with you, our World TB Day Zoom Background.
Please do use as much as you can to promote during meetings this coming week.
Happy World TB Day week dear colleagues.
Warmest wishes,
Monica
MEDIA ADVISORY
Subject: World TB Day Press Conference
Date and Time: 22 March 2021, 14:30H CET
World TB Day is observed on 24 March each year to raise awareness and understanding about one of the world’s top infectious killers and catalyze action to address its devastating health, social, and economic impact around the world. The theme for the Show and for World TB Day: ‘The Clock is Ticking’ – conveys the sense that the world is running out of time to act on the commitments to end TB made by global leaders. This is especially critical in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic that has put End TB progress at risk.
At the press briefing the WHO Global TB Programme will release new data from over 84 countries on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the TB response, and launch new guidelines on systematic TB screening to help countries bridge the gap in diagnosis and care. TB remains one of the top infectious killers in the world claiming nearly 4000 lives each day.
