Dear Deputy Minister Barkalaia,
Firstly we would like to extend our congratulations to you and your team for the yesterday’s approval of the revised Labour Code and we would like to express our availability to discuss any support that may be required in the implementation
of the new law.
In the past few months, UN Women has made progress in a number of areas with regards to our project “Women’s Economic Empowerment in the South Caucasus” funded by the Swiss and Austrian Governments. We are therefore requesting a meeting
with you at your earliest convenience to discuss the progress and the specific next steps.
As you are aware, one of the activities within our project is the Gender Impact Assessment (GIA) of a policy or programme of the Ministry. Together with you, we would like to agree on the area of focus (topic) of the GIA. Secondly, we have
completed the Participatory Gender Audit (PGA) and had submitted the draft report to your Ministry for feedback. We would like to finalize the report and agree on the actions that should be implemented.
Please note that the project comes to an end in the summer of 2021 and we would like to agree on the actions to be implemented by then.
Warm regards,
Mehjabeen
