Subject: issue of qualitative research
Dear Mr. Handley,
As you already are informed,
the LEPL
State Employment Support Agency
has the obligation to conduct a qualitative research annually in order to identify the professions in demand on Georgian labor market, related knowledge and skills.
The first quantitative survey in 2015 conducted the employment program’s department of the LEPL Social Service Agency.
In 2016, new labor market research methodology was developed with the support and assistance of the EU Technical Assistance Project. In 2017, the Government of Georgia made decision
to split the research activity between two ministries. The Ministry of Economic and Sustainable Development of Georgia got the responsibility to conduct quantitative research and the Ministry of IDP, Labor, Health and Social Affairs was responsible for the
qualitative researches regarding the profession with high demand on labor market.
After the communication with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, it became clear that the Ministry conducted a quantitative survey in 2020 and revealed both the required
professions and the required knowledge and skills.
The State Employment Support Agency is facing with the question of whether it is possible to carry out qualitative research in the required professions in order to avoid overlap with
the research of the Ministry of Economic and what are the key issues/additional information that qualitative research could provide us.
Please get involved and share your position on this topic, we would also like to know your views on the prospects for future research activities by the Agency.
Sincerely,
Nino Veltauri
