It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the online High-Level Round Table “Human Capital and Climate Change: what nexus” on 16 December 2020, starting at 11:00 (CET Time).

The High-Level Round Table is organised by the European Training Foundation (ETF) together with the International Institute for Administrative Sciences (IIAS – www.iias-iisa.org ) in the framework of the IIAS 2020 Conference “Public Governance for Climate Action”.

The nexus between human capital and climate action touches upon four dimensions:

• The skills needed for employment will be affected by the transformation of the economy towards a green/circular model.
• The development of human capital in support of climate action will rely on partnerships that engage public, private, non-profit and civil society actors.
• The sustainability of the environment and the development of human capital are common Goods, they concern all citizens and the social cohesion.
• The scale for action is systemic, within countries and across countries. The European Green Deal is promoting action at system level, within and beyond the EU.
•  

The Round Table will be chaired by Cesare Onestini, ETF Director, and will feature:

- Nicolas Schmit, EU Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights,

- Sofiane Sahraoui, IIAS Director General,

- Geert Bouckaert, former President of the IIAS and Professor at the KU Leuven Public Governance Institute,

- Rainer Kattel, Deputy Director of the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose,

- Tamar Kitiashvili, Georgian Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

 

The event will be delivered in English, using the ZOOM application.
