Pamela recommended to get in touch with you, and I hope you are well, and are staying safe in Georgia and the demonstrations right now!
As you are very much aware already, COVID-19 has catastrophic impacts on migrant workers, the remittances they send home and consequently their families and children’s wellbeing. We will soon be launching an Innocenti paper on remittances,
COVID-19 and childhood poverty, and to launch this paper internally within UNICEF as well externally with govts and other stakeholders, we are planning 2 webinars.

The first, taking place on Tuesday 24th November, (9:00am EST) is a UNICEF internal webinar focused on the role of social protection for children and families in the context of migration and displacement during COVID-19. You will receive
an invitation shortly.

The second, taking place on Wednesday 25th November (8:30 – 10:00 EST / 14:30 – 16:00 CET) is in partnership with the Call to Action “Remittances in Crisis:
How to Keep them Flowing” and will be attended by governments and stakeholders part of this coalition with the aim to launch this paper externally and discuss jointly what can be done to address the issue of the decline in remittances
on children.
During second (external) webinar, we would love to highlight the situation in Georgia and the UCG supported by UNICEF. We would love your feedback if it would be appropriate to invite a government counterpart to speak, and to highlight
them as an example with other Governments? Georgia would be a great example, as they are already a member to the Call to Action to keep remittances flowing. The counterpart in the Coalition
