To: Tamila Barkalaia (Deputy Minister) and Lika Klimiashvilli (Head of Division),
Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia
Dear Tamila Barkalaia and Lika Klimiashvili,
Thank you so much for your interest in the Equal Pay International Coalition and your efforts towards Georgia’s application for its membership. I understand that in this process the Georgian authorities have
expressed an interest in adhering to the OECD recommendations on Gender: in full the OECD Recommendation of the Council on Gender Equality in Education, Employment and Entrepreneurship
OECD Recommendation of the Council on Gender Equality in Education, Employment
and Entrepreneurship and the
OECD Recommendation of the Council on Gender Equality in Public Life).
The adherence procedure is relatively straightforward. The country wishing to adhere sends a letter (signed by the responsible minister) to the Secretary-General of the OECD. This application is then circulated
among members for a no-objection written procedure, upon which the Secretary-General responds to the applicant.
In the letter, which need not be long, you would briefly outline Georgia’s reasons for wishing to adhere to eth OECD Gender recommendations, and how its policies fit with the principles laid down in the Recommendations,
and that you intend to implement and observe these principles.
Your request would be very timely, as in 2022 we have to report to the OECD Council on progress with the implementation of the OECD Gender Recommendations, and it would be good to include Georgia in the analysis.
With best wishes,
Willem Adema
