Tamar Gabunia, Deputy Minister of Health, told the World Bank that Georgia has already changed the law so that the country complies with Pfizer's requirements not to be held accountable for anything. In order to meet the necessary requirements for damages and liability, the Parliament of Georgia has already initiated legislative amendments to the Law of Georgia “On Public Health”. The amendment clearly defines the role and responsibilities of the State in terms of damages and liability related to the use and implementation of Covid-19 vaccines. The legislative procedures will be completed in an expedited manner (the first meeting of the Committee was held on January 12), and the amendments will enter into force by the end of January 2021. Based on this amendment, the Ministry will be able to immediately conclude an agreement with Pfizer to compensate the manufacturer for product liability claims related to the use or administration of this vaccine.
