Here at McDonald's we're working on reducing our carbon footprint for a better, brighter future. 2019 saw a number of new trials and we have even more planned for 2020, starting with Happy Meal®.
In selected restaurants across the country for a limited time*, parents have the choice to swap a Happy Meal® toy for a Fruit Bag. We aim to reduce our use of plastic and help children get one of their five-a-day!
We recently trialled The Big Toy Take Back**, where customers were able to recycle plastic toys responsibly at selected restaurants – even if they weren't from McDonald's.
In 2020 we'll be bringing a new trial to a number of restaurants where parents can choose to swap a Happy Meal® toy for a book instead.

*Trial running for a limited time in selected restaurants in Hampshire, Merseyside, Scotland and ROI. Participating restaurants only. Restaurant and trial details may vary over time.
**The Big Toy Take Back trial ran between 13th November 2019 and 11th December 2019 for plastic toys less than 17cm in diameter.
