Dear members of the Standing Working Group on Ageing,

Dear colleagues,

I would like to introduce to you Ms. Aisha Dasgupta, our new Associate Population Affairs Officer, who joined the UNECE Population Unit at the beginning of August through the UN Managed Reassignment Programme of young professionals.

Prior to joining UNECE, Aisha was for four years with the Population Division of UN DESA, working on fertility and family planning data. Her main area of expertise has been in fertility and sexual and reproductive health and now she will have an opportunity to expand her knowledge to the field of population ageing.  

Aisha holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Anthropology from University College London, and Master’s degree and PhD in Demography from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Kindly note that Aisha takes over the functions from Lisa Warth, whose temporary contract with UNECE ended on 31 July.

I’m sure you will join me in taking this opportunity to express our huge appreciation to Lisa for all her work and positive energy she has put in advancing the population ageing agenda and needs of older persons in the UNECE region. We very much hope that there will be a possibility to get Lisa on board at least on part-time basis sometime in the future.
