Dear Ketevan,
I hope that all is well with you. I've seen that the weather is
beautiful in Tbilisi and I'm very much looking forward to coming back there.
In the mean-time, I've started to do some analytical work around
selection criteria for hospitals to be contracted. I need to spread out
the 5 working days over two weeks or so I can't promise final results
for next week but I'll get there
The plan I've shared with Audrius (that he has also discussed with you,
I think) is to:
- get a better understanding what impact various criteria have on
number of beds contracted etc (excel figures/tables)
- I'm also thinking of a ranking algorithm to prioritise hospitals for
contracting (also in excel)
- Ideally, I would also like to look into the patient
movement/referral patterns and geographical locations of hospitals
The main file I'm using as a starting point (you shared it with me in
November) is attached as a reference - this should mostly cover the
first point above and maybe also (at least partially) the second.
Regarding the geographical location, I'll try to use the address data in
that file but...
Would you be able to help me in getting population data by
administrative units of Georgia?
Ideally with age-sex categories and also with land area (or population
density) of the administrative units.
I'm also going to look for GIS information sources that have shape files
of Georgian administrative units so I could create a map of hospitals.
Any suggestions on where to get such shape files (maps) would be most
welcome as well.
And I'll come back to you later regarding referral and patient movement
data as I'm currently still uncertain on what data would be best and how
to do that particular analysis.
Finally, I would appreciate any suggestions and comments a la whether
this could be useful and whether I should try to look at some specific
aspects in the data
With best wishes,
Taavi
