Dear Antoine
Many thanks for your e-mail and follow up. We’ll review the presentation and provide our feedback after we receive the inception report. As for the mental health related TA, it would be great if consultants come in May (20th-25th).The ministry unit for health policy will work with the consultants on the mission itinerary/agenda as needed.
With kind regards
Tamar Gabunia, MD, MPH

Subject: Technical Assistance to Social Welfare in Georgia - Presentation of Friday April 19th
Dear Deputy Minister Gabunia, dear Partners,
Please find attached the revised version the presentation in the Ministry last Friday. Once again, we thank you for having facilitated the processes and meetings with partners, we thank you also for your feedback on the activities of the technical assistance. If we forgot to send the presentation to someone please tell us and/or forward it.
The presentation shows the main findings, recommendations and next steps for the activities of the technical assistance provided by Expertise France and financed by AFD. We will address you a more detailed inception report in about 2 weeks, displaying more precise activities and planning for the first year of the technical assistance. Please, do not hesitate to send us your feedback/comments on the presentation and suggestions for next steps.
Regarding mental health activities, we would like to have a mental health specialist, Dr. Viviane Kovess-Masfety (whose CV is attached), come to work with Alain Lefebvre (who Ketevan met during last Friday lunch at Tabla). Both of them have worked on mental health policies in France. We think it best if the mission of Dr. Kovess-Masfety could happen next month (May 20 – 25th), together with Alain Lefebvre. The availability of both experts would then be only in September (then delaying some activities).
Dr. Kovess-Masfety has an extensive knowledge of mental health policies monitoring (expert for the EU DG Health in setting indicators for the EU), strategy designing (France, Romania, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan) including mental healthcare financing. The goal of this mission would be to i) map, find and engage local partners and resources (focal points, survey/questionnaire companies/NGO), ii) make sure of what has been done already by whom and see how all the fragmented information can be gathered in the ministry, and iii) define the methodology of the epidemiological survey.
We remain at your disposal to discuss the presentation and next steps and we are looking forward to hearing from you.
With best regards,
