Policymakers must not lose sight of the vulnerabilities of women and girls, which have been exacerbated by the pandemic, says a UNFPA guidance note released yesterday. “Pandemics make existing gender inequalities for women and girls worse, and can impact how they receive treatment and care,” the note says.
Around the world, women are facing increased risk of gender-based violence, loss of livelihoods and other threats due to the outbreak.
