Dear PMNCH Partners,

I am very pleased to note that we are in the final stages of completing the development of our 2021 to 2025 Strategy, which will guide our collective work over the next five years. The PMNCH Board is currently reviewing this document and I hope to be able to share the approved version with you in September 2020.

We now need to think about our plans to implement the Strategy. The purpose of this message is therefore to inform you about our plans and to seek your active participation in these processes:

  1. Reforming our governance structure. In parallel to the Strategy development process and under the leadership of the PMNCH’s Governance and Nominations Committee (GNC), we have been working extensively on developing options to restructure PMNCH’s governance structure, with input from the EC and the Board. This is both in response to the recent external evaluation findings and to align our governance with the emerging Strategy. To this end, the next phase of consultations by the GNC will engage PMNCH’s existing governance bodies and our constituencies to consult on and refine the emerging governance option. When we conclude this process, we will work with our constituencies to operationalize the new governance structure.

  1. Engaging Partners in the Strategy delivery. The underlying theme of our new Strategy continues to be the Power of Partnership – achieving more together than alone. As we enter 2021, we want to fully capitalize on the strength of our members, and to continue to strive towards making all our efforts “partnership-centric”. The Secretariat will be reaching out to all of you with suggestions of how this could be done in the context of the new Strategy for your consideration and direction.

  1. Developing supportive digital tools. For us to operationalize our new governance structure and to fully support our members in implementing the partnership-centric approach, we want to have appropriate digital tools at our disposal to enable this to happen. We will invite partners who have expertise and interest in this area to work with us to shape emerging considerations.

Our work to date has led us towards a Strategy that I believe both sets clear direction for PMNCH and inspires us all to take urgent collective action in support of women’s, children’s, and adolescents’ health and well-being. We now need to work together to set structures and approaches in place to enable us to deliver on this Strategy. I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank you again in advance for your engagement.

PMNCH is a partnership for and by you!

My very best regards,

Helen Clark
