ISET Policy Pulse June 2019
Dear Friends of ISET,
Many in and outside of Georgia are currently worried that Russia’s ban on passenger flights to/from Georgia could be a serious blow to the Georgian tourism sector and the overall economy. ISET-PI decided to reflect on the "Gavrilov Effect" through a simple visual representation of economic activity statistics. According to the data, the share of tourism in Georgian economy is 7.6%, while the contribution of all Russian tourists is 1.8% and of those travelling by air is 0.5%. Here is the link to the aforementioned infographic (in Georgian). ISET-PI is committed to sharing knowledge with the Georgia’s population on the latest economic developments at all times!
On ISET’s behalf, Tamara Sulukhia, ISET Director
