Dear WGA members,
dear colleagues,
I hope the year 2019 started well and with good encounters and activity-rich plans.
On 1 February the UNECE Executive Committee will be hearing the WGA Chair’s report – this time to be presented by Aina Strand, the Vice-Chair – and taking a decision on the proposed revised Terms of Reference including the change of name
of the Working Group. We look forward for a positive outcome of this meeting.
In the meantime, the work is continuing and I would like to remind you about the request to send us the
good practice examples for the Policy Brief #22 on Informal Carers the outline of which we discussed at the November meeting.
The draft for this brief is being prepared by the team at the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research under the leadership of Kai Leichsenring. And many of you already
mentioned some projects and initiatives during the group discussions:
- Ukraine: information points (project funded by the Austrian Ministry of Labour), self-help groups etc.; care allowance, pension contributions; Study on abuse in old age.
- Lithuania: Supportive professional services
- Serbia: Training and information
- Czech Republic: Well-being of informal carers
- Sweden: self-government but general law: municipalities should support informal carers, various services
- Denmark: training with focus on dementia
- Kazakhstan, Malta, Luxembourg (definition)
- Slovenia: on legislation
- Moldova: self-help groups
- Finland: good practice, legislation
We would appreciate if you could use the attached template for the good practice examples that Kai’s team shared with us. The deadline for submission is 18 February.
With my best regards,
Vitalija
