Dear Michael,

It's very nice to hear from you. I am delighted with the opportunity to participate in the meeting and share Georgia experience and the ministry perspective on Tb, HIV and Hep C elimination programs in the context of anticipated transition.
Technically I'll be prepared to present themes as you've suggested. However, I've not yet heard from the meeting organizers on travel logistics. I hope this will be sorted out on Monday or Tuesday.
With kind regards and look forward to meeting you in Vilnius.

Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labor, Health and Social Affairs

Hi Tamar

Great you are coming to Vilnuis.

We have a panel on transition which I will moderate with Olga. We want to discuss transition planning for end of Global Fund grant and other donor assistance projects as the expectation for the MOF is they will be picking up the cheque with domestic funding.

We want to emphasize the concept of performance based contracting with ngos for priority public health orogrammes like aids, tb, and Hep. C. Elimination, with cross-over to aids.

Georgia has done quite a good job on transition planning and we want to disseminate this to other countries. The Georgian CDC is our principal recipient which is not true in many ECA countries.

Potentially,  we can use Georgia as a regional center supported by WHO and Global Fund, government of Estonia, US CDC  and others to support transition planning in ECA region.

This is also a good platform to disseminate experience on Hep C elimination and its link to aids. Elimination is such a great investment against future health spending.

We will distribute presentations for countried beforehand, so a good slide pack from Georgia is useful particularly what you have done  on transition planning and also your Hep. C elimination program

For the session:  We want you to present 4 slides.

One on transition process.

One social contracting.

One on UHC

Key probem facing Georgia and on your mind.

We plan to get together thursday after the meeting for drinks to discuss with everyone

Dear Olga

Happy to support what Michael, you and the team design. Just want to convey to MOH soon to avoid extra work on their part, so they can coordinate with MOF.

Thanks.

Warm regards,

Darren

Dear Darren - it is good that the MOH is working on presentation. We had a discussion with Michael and thought that long presentation might be not productive. The idea is to have a short presentation from the country, distribute the long presentation to participants and have like a talk show with all participnats talking (asking questions and/or responding). It will stimulate the exchange of issues and solutions.

What do you think?

Dear Olga A,

Thanks for the update.

For the country participation, it is very important to clarify their role now, earlier than April 25.  I am now unclear on the ask to the country (MOF).

I asked MOH to help MOF with the presentation based on earlier advice I received. It would not be appropriate for MOH to do the work and have MOF expect to present, and then change at the last minute.

Thus I would appreciate it if the country role could be clarified and decided this week well in advance.

Thanks.

Warm regards,

Darren

Dear Darren,

Apologies in my response. I an yet in Baku and leaving tonight.

We've been discussing with Michael that we will distribute the presentations to the participants rather than presenting them in full. We will have a panel represented by Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Montenegro participants. We will moderate the discussion rather than presentation.

But indeed it could be more than 2-3 slides.
We'll get together with participants on Thursday 25th to agree on the format.

Hope all is well
Kind regards
Olga

Dear Olga,

MOH/Public Health Center told me yesterday that the 4 MOF officials already identified will attend, and MOH is preparing their presentation.  I have not seen their presentation.  2-3 slides seems very short – how much time will they have?

Thanks.

Darren

Dear Darren - hope you well and greetings from Baku. Just a quick thing - will you be able to check if the participants from Ukraine decided on the topic for the presentation during the GF special session? 2-3 slides will suffice. We plan to have more discussions rather than presentations

Many thanks

Dear Geir

Greetings from site visits in Ukraine.

Thanks for your message.  Did I understand your message correctly that only Michael, Olga and I will attend from GF?

I am not yet comfortable with a speaking role given how little time I have to prepare since I’m in the field here all week, and Monday is a holiday.  How long are my introductory remarks?  If your team prepares extensive talking points this week, I am happy to fulfill the role.

Thanks.

Warm regards,

Darren
