Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, we are pleased to share with you Financing Global Health 2019: Tracking Health Spending in a Time of Crisis.
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of granular and timely tracking of resources available for health. This
Financing Global Health report provides up-to-date tracking of financial resources for health in 195 countries worldwide, with a focus on estimating development assistance for health, domestic spending on health, health spending on three key infectious diseases, and future scenarios of health spending. Despite global focus on the COVID-19 pandemic, funding long-term solutions through sustainable financing for health systems and programs that can achieve key 2030 global health goals remains critical. With those goals in mind, this report and included estimates can be used for identifying funding gaps, evaluating the allocation of scarce resources, and comparing funding across time and countries.
We invite you to explore Financing Global Health 2019: Tracking Health Spending in a Time of Crisis online, as hard copies are not being mailed at this time due to the pandemic. In addition, we encourage you to dive into the related data visualizations, two research papers (noted below) on the topics covered in the report, and other published materials related to this research linked below. We hope that this research can be useful to your work.
Sincerely,
Angela Micah, PhD
