This is to follow up on your designation as the focal point(s) for a consultation on universal health coverage (UHC) indicators that took place in 2016 (see the attached Circular Letter 51.2016). Specifically, the UHC service coverage index (SDG 3.8.1) and UHC financial protection indicators – global (SDG 3.8.2 and related) and regional.

In June 2019, WHO will be requesting Member States to review updates to these indicators. Updated figures will then be released via WHO and UN Statistical Division data portals and a global report to be published in September.

Updated figures and a briefing on methods and data sources will be emailed to you by 17 June 2019. Focal points nominated at the request of the UN Statistical Division will also be copied, where relevant. The consultation will last for a month. Submissions received afterwards will not be considered in the publication of country figures.

We would be very grateful if you would confirm your nomination for this consultation by 13 June 2019 or share with us the contact details of any new focal point(s) (official position, affiliation, email address and telephone number).

We suggest nominating two focal points, one to review the UHC service coverage indicator and one to review financial protection indicators.

With thanks and kind regards,
WHO UHC monitoring team
