Thank you again for sharing these comments on the Snapshot.
Having looked through the attachment containing STEPS figures for Georgia, some figures appear strange: for example, they show that rates of cervical cancer screening are highest among women with least education. Can you double check these?
It appears there are additionally two differences which mean the figures in the attachment would not be not directly comparable to the indicators in the Snapshot.
- The two lower education categories used in the Snapshot and in the attached figures do not appear to correspond. In the HESR these categories correspond to ISCED levels 0-2 for the low level, and ISCED levels 3-4 for the medium level. In the attached figures, it appears the corresponding ISCED levels are levels 0-1 for the low level, and levels 2-4 for the medium level. Please let me know if this understanding is incorrect.
- The indicators in the Snapshot were derived by calculating survey weighted averages of the data by country, year, sex, and education. Rates were then directly age standardised with the World Health Organization European standard population. In the attached data, is does not appear that the data have been age standardised. Again, please let me know if this understanding is incorrect.
Thank you for also attaching the figures on smokers disaggregated by sex and education. I can confirm that this indicator was missing from the Snapshot due to an error on my part and that we do have data for Georgia for this indicator. However, owing to the two differences explained above, the figures for the Snapshot indicator do not match the figures provided in the attachment. I am attaching our figures below for your information.

On behalf of Dr. Belkania, I am sending you the comments of the Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia regarding Health Equity Snapshot for Georgia.
According to the “WHO STEP wise approach to noncommunicable disease risk factor surveillance (STEPS)” data, we have different data for the following indicators (please see the attached document): Percentage of adults reporting diabetes; Percentage of adults who drink alcohol at least once a week; Percentage of women aged 30-49 reporting ever having had a cervical cancer screening; Percentage of adults who are obese.
In the attached document, you can also find the percentage of smokers disaggregated by sex and education according to the STEPS data.
In the “Health & Income Security and Social Protection” section, snapshot doesn’t show percentage of population covered by social protection schemes. Also, it is unclear what is meant under social assistance: only Targeted social Assistance or all/main social assistances covered under the “social protection budget ” such as pensions, targeted social assistance and social package? We would like to note that pensions, targeted social assistance and social package are mentioned as “main social protection systems” in the national SDGs and in case of request, we can provide you with this data taken from the Ministry’s database.
We are also attaching the information regarding employment indicators in the snapshot, which we have received from the National Statistics Office in Georgia.
