Spotlight on the outlook for European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA)

From the WE4AHA project, we would like to inform you about the remaining planning for 2020 and some relevant information that we have for the EIP on AHA activity post-2020.

European Commission mandate for the EIP

The mandate of all European Innovation Partnerships (EIPs) finalises in December 2020. Considering that the EIP on AHA has been an extremely successful initiative, the EC is considering a future for the EIP on AHA. In fact, WE4AHA has been asked to work with an Internal Working Group composed by representatives from the Action Groups and Reference Sites to conceive a Sustainability Plan for the EIP on AHA after 2020.

Future Partnership on Transformation of Health and Care Systems

This Partnership has now been confirmed and will build on the following major ongoing initiatives:

- European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA)
- Active and Assisted Living programme (AAL)
- More Years, Better Lives Joint Programming Initiative (JPI MYBL)

Launch of the 2020 Call for Thematic Workshops for Reference Sites

The Call for Thematic Workshops for Reference Sites aims to foster a better connection between demand and supply sides of the active and healthy ageing market, and to prepare the ground for the full deployment of the scaling-up strategy, a cornerstone of the EIP on AHA cycle 2018-2020. Twinning results: six twinning pairs will kick-off their knowledge exchange in June

Six twinning applications were awarded to carry out knowledge exchange activities between June and November 2020, funded by the European Commission through the WE4AHA project.

Coronavirus: a common approach for safe and efficient mobile tracing apps across the EU

Member States, with the support of the Commission, have published guidelines to ensure interoperability between mobile tracing and warning apps across EU. These are common principles to ensure tracing apps can communicate with each other when required, so citizens only have to use one app to report a positive test or to receive an alert, wherever they are in the EU.

EIC COVID-19 uses Joinup solution to create a space for addressing challenges

The Executive Agency for SMEs (EASME), and in particular the team that is part of the European Innovation Council (EIC) Task Force, joined forces with our Joinup solution team to create a new platform EIC COVID-19 that entered a soft launch on 13 May.

NET4AGE-FRIENDLY COST Action approved!

The NET4AGE-FRIENDLY COST Action - International Interdisciplinary Network on Smart Healthy Age-friendly Environments has been approved in a call led by Cáritas Coimbra in a joint collaboration with AFEdemy. It connects researchers from 47 countries, as a follow-up of the work of these organizations coordinating the Stakeholders Network on SHAFE.

In the backdrop of the current pandemic, an EU-funded project has begun collecting information and sharing open-source designs with the wider public on personalised healthcare solutions to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The new EU4Health programme will promote better protection against and management of health crises by strengthening member states' health systems and delivering better care. It will also aim to improve health and foster innovation and investment.

EUREKA Multilateral call for projects on healthy ageing. Deadline 05/08/2020

Participants are invited to submit applied research and innovation project proposals to develop digital health tools and smart devices to promote healthy ageing.

AAL Call 2020: Healthy Ageing with the support of digital solutions. Deadline 24/08/2020

The aim of the call is to support innovative, transnational and multi-disciplinary collaborative projects. It is open to developing ICT-based solutions targeting any application areas within the AAL domain.
