Received On : 25.03.2020 17:19

Dear all, We hope this finds you healthy. In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have been looking at the budgetary response in some highly-affected countries – an area that has not been researched extensively so far, although critical to ensure sufficient public funds effectively flow to the frontline. To inform budgetary response in countries where the pandemic may spread in the near future, a summary of observed budgetary practices is provided in this blog and articulated around three key questions: • What are the immediate spending actions that can be taken with existing budgets? • How to secure budget for COVID-19 response through revisions in finance laws? • What can be done to accelerate budget execution and funds release to the frontline? Please see here: https://p4h.world/en/node/8821 A French version of the blog will be circulated in the next days. While we continue monitoring the budgetary processes at the global and regional levels, we very much welcome your feedback and inputs on how your country’s executive branch and legislature are moving ahead to prioritize public spending toward the response. Inputs can be shared with: barroyh@who.int Stay all healthy!
