4. Planned SG Policy Brief on COVID-19 and UHC

We have been in close communication with SG Office on the issue of COVID-19 and UHC. In this connection, Deputy Secretary General announced yesterday during the UHC event that SG will issue a Policy Brief on COVID-19 and UHC as part of SG’s initiative to highlight relevant issues in relation to COVID-19. This will be prepared in collaboration with WHO and relevant UN agencies. As discussed yesterday, should this be materialized, we intend to issue a joint statement to support such brief. We will update with any developments on this matter.

Finally, please allow me to note that I myself, as a focal point of my delegation and co-chairs, will be leaving New York for capital next week. My successor, Dr. KITA Yosuke yosuke.kita@mofa.go.jp, is already here in New York so please allow me to introduce him as a new focal point in close collaboration with other focal points of co-chairs (Eka from Georgia ekipiani@mfa.gov.ge; and Pornrawe from Thailand po.poenateetai@mfa.mail.go.th).

Please stay safe and healthy!

Best,
Toshi
