Biodiversity finance is critical for delivering the transformative changes needed to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity and ecosystem services. Meanwhile, OECD analysis shows that government support that is potentially harmful to biodiversity is around USD 500 billion a year, and that happens to be more than five times the spending that is allocated to protect biodiversity, which amounts to around 85 billion per year globally. New report: OECD Environmental Performance Review of Greece 2020

The report assesses Greece’s environmental performance progress towards its environmental objectives since the last Review in 2009; mainly Greece’s progress in reducing its dependence on fossil fuels, deploying renewable energy sources and on its climate and energy targets. It looks at the risks facing the tourism and agriculture sectors from climate change, and at how Greece is handling other challenges such as air pollution, waste management, and growing pressures on fresh water supplies and biodiversity.
