Dear friend,
Since Results for Development was founded in 2008, it has been guided by our board of directors — a group of distinguished people, including heads of state and renowned experts in global development as well as the private sector.
We are delighted to share that we’ve welcomed four new board members. They include: Mariam Claeson, Rosalind Kainyah, the Honorable Mamadou Lamine Loum, and Loyce Pace.
Dr. Claeson, a globally recognized expert in maternal and child health, is former director of the Global Financing Facility. Ms. Kainyah is a seasoned multinational executive with a legal background and her own firm, Kina Advisory, which provides advice critical to sustainable development in Africa to governments and companies. Mr. Loum, former prime minister of Senegal (1998–2000), is a dedicated public servant who brings a deep understanding of the needs of government change agents, including political, technical and implementation challenges. Ms. Pace is the president and executive director of the Global Health Council, and a tireless advocate for global health programs that effectively engage and meet the needs of their communities.
Their guidance will be important for advancing R4D’s mission of supporting change agents — government officials, civil society leaders and private sector innovators — in low- and middle-income countries as they build strong systems to achieve large-scale, lasting improvements in health, education and nutrition. This is an especially pivotal moment in our history as we launch a new strategy that puts local change agents — their priorities, experiences and expertise — at the center of our approach, while supporting them with their responses to the global COVID-19 crisis.
Read more about their backgrounds and expertise — as well as R4D’s new strategy — here.
Sincerely,
David de Ferranti, Board Chair
