Dear Colleagues,
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt routine health services such as immunization globally and especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). At the same time, policymakers and practitioners persist tirelessly, devising strategies to meet the challenges and adapt to the crisis. Stakeholders are collaborating on research to answer some old and arising questions in immunization planning and implementation. A newly published study produced immunization cost estimates for 136 LMICs, filling a critical data gap on immunization delivery cost. Further, the LNCT webinar on July 16 will look at additional costs due to COVID-19.
We also feature a study that specifically centers on the impact of COVID-19 on maternal health services, including maternal immunization, in LMICs where cost is already a significant barrier. The Gavi, Vaccine Alliance COVID-19 Situation Report #12 shows increasing COVID-19 infection rates in Gavi-supported countries and its impact on routine immunization. The iHEA webinar on July 17 will discuss strategies for immunization against COVID-19.
Thank you for your continued support, we ask that you take a moment to invite others to join the Community of Practice. Our submission portal is always open for immunization economics-related news and information, submit today.
Stay safe; our good wishes to all those adversely affected by COVID-19.
