Respectful WHO Representatives and Heads of Country Offices (in bcc for technical reasons),

Dear Regional and country office JTH teams,

World Hepatitis Day will be held this year, as previous years, on 28th July. The EURO flagship publication will be the Compendium of good practices in the health sector response to viral hepatitis in the WHO European Region which will be launched during a webinar organized by the Regional Office on Monday 27 July at 11:00 CET (with simultaneous Russian interpretation) exploring some of the great case studies in the Compendium. To join the webinar please share information with your team and counterparts and suggest them to visit the registration webpage.

Early next week, we will send you the 2020 presentation in English and Russian, which you can adapt to your setting. The WHO/Europe fact sheets on hepatitis B and hepatitis C, and various country stories which will be appearing on the WHO/Europe website.

The social media campaign under the hashtag #HepFreeFuture will be active as of 24 July, using a variety of products available in English, Russian and selected other languages on the campaign platform https://www.who-europe-campaigns.org/.

The headquarters will be holding an online summit on Tuesday 28 July, and campaign materials (including in Russian) are available. More advocacy and communication tools can be found on the World Hepatitis Alliance web page.

Should you have any question or require additional support with your campaign, please contact Ms Stephanie Brickman brickmans@who.int , Dr Nicole Seguy seguyn@who.int HIV, Viral Hepatitis and STI Unit Lead, Dr Antons Mozalevskis mozalevskisa@who.int or me.

We look forward to joining our forces for the World Hepatitis Day, together we shall remind the decision-makers and partners of the importance of scaling up our efforts, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, to eliminate viral hepatitis and give hope to millions of people living with viral hepatitis and their families in our Region.

Thank you and all the best,

Masoud
