Dear Dr Tsuladze,
Many thanks for your email,
I am replying on behalf of my colleague Dr Salami, here cc’d, to address your queries.
Firstly, please note that the letter sent back in January, attached for reference, will serve as written authorization to proceed with the destruction of the Solidarity unused study drugs: hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir, sc interferon
beta 1a, and iv interferon beta 1a.
Secondly, I can confirm that all drugs, with the exception of Remdesivir, for which further instruction will be shared in due course, should be destroyed, however no deadline has been set and this operation can be carried out when
more conveniently for your MoH.
Hope this answer your questions. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other doubts.
Regards,
Virginia

Subject: [EXT] SOLIDARITY drugs query
Dear Dr Salami,
We are approaching you with several questions regarding the destruction of Solidarity Trial drugs; If you could help us clarify some of the issues, we would be extremely grateful;
First of all, as we have received the WHO Solidarity Secretariat’s letter of January 6th, 2021, we are ready to perform necessary actions and will be
looking forward to receiving the written authorization for destruction. Should we address you regarding the authorization? If not, please advise how to proceed with this.
Secondly, we wanted to double-check that
ALL drugs (except remdesivir) should be destroyed even though not all of them have expired?
And what is the “deadline” for performing this action? This question arose, as we were wondering if it is possible to destroy the trial drugs when it’s more convenient for the MoH (entity which will
be responsible for the action)
Thank you in advance for your kind support!
Best regards,
