Digital ILC 2020 Takeaways – Viral Hepatitis Expert Discussions

As part of EASL’s ground-breaking Digital ILC 2020, the EASL Takeaways look back on key topics from the congress, with leading experts discussing the most impactful science and putting it into perspective.

This episode sees 3 internationally renowned experts in viral hepatitis – Professor Ulrich Spengler, Professor Geoffrey Dusheiko and Dr. Tobias Böttler – recap the key developments revealed at the congress. The panel discussed different studies ranging from the Stop-NUC trial  and the potential for durable immune control and functional cure in HbeAg-negatuive patients, as well as new data on novel therapies and new experimental observations.

Global survey of hepatitis providers/program managers: COVID-19 impact on hepatitis prevention, testing, and treatment
In collaboration with Project ECHO networks, EASL, AASLD, CASL and CHAI, the Coalition for Global Hepatitis Elimination (CGHE) is distributing a global survey to better understand the impact of COVID-19 on hepatitis services and what mitigation strategies have been successfully deployed.

The WHO Regional Office for Europe jointly with European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) is organizing a virtual meeting with major stakeholders of communicable diseases to exchange information and good practices on the maintenance of essential TB, HIV and viral hepatitis services during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
 
Prof. Maria Buti, EASL Policy and Public Health Chairperson will present the latest EASL policy statement on HCV elimination and harm reduction.
