Minister Tikaradze, Deputy Minister Gabunia, and Esteemed Colleagues --

I am reaching out to inform you of some transitions within the leadership of CDC’s Division of Viral Hepatitis’s Global Health Team.

At the end of July, Dr. Francisco Averhoff retired from his position in DVH as Associate Director of Global Health (ADGH). Additionally, Dr. Muazzam Nasrullah, who has been serving as DVH’s Acting ADGH, recently accepted a new global health opportunity outside of CDC, and his last day with DVH will be September 4th. DVH has benefitted tremendously from both Francisco’s and Muazzam’s leadership, and they will be greatly missed.

In the transition, DVH has been incredibly fortunate to identify Dr. Paige Armstrong (an EIS trained Emergency Medicine physician with extensive international and outbreak response experience) as DVH’s new ADGH. Dr. Armstrong is currently deployed in support of CDC’s COVID-19 Response and will join DVH in her new role effective October 1st. I will serve as DVH’s Acting ADGH in the gap between Muazzam’s departure and Paige’s formal start.

In the context of these transitions, I want to reiterate that CDC/DVH’s Global Health Team is committed to continuing our partnership with you and providing continued support for the remarkable ongoing efforts to achieve hepatitis C elimination in Georgia.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. We look forward to our continued work together and our impactful and prolific partnership.

Respectfully,

Carolyn
