Dear Tamara

Many thanks for your reply and forwarding the request to the office director. As I've mentioned we've submitted similar requests to the UN and WB offices and will be meeting with their representatives this week. For adequate coordination, we will keep all partners informed on available solutions and the country response.

With kind regards

Tamar

Dear Tamar,

Thank you for reaching out and calling me yesterday.  I truly appreciate you providing such a comprehensive overview of the current situation with the COVID-19 response in the country.

As we discussed during our phone conversation, USAID does not have an ongoing health program that would be instrumental in accommodating the Ministry’s request.  At the same time, understanding the emergency nature of the situation and the immediate needs that have emerged from it, I am forwarding the request to my office director, Mr. Adam Schmidt for further consideration.

Thank you for all your efforts to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 further dissemination.

With kind regards,

Tamar Sirbiladze

Dear Tamara

Many thanks for your call yesterday and discussing emergency response related to COVID-19. As I've explained Georgia implements a multisectoral response plan with all relevant agencies closely engaged. On a health care side, in addition to preventive activities we are working intensively on hospital sector preparedness. A state owned Central Hospital in Tbilisi has been fully mobilized to accept and manage patients with COVID-19 as needed. WHO recently issued the list of needed commodities for adequate prevention and case management. Based on the recommended list we've developed the list of needed items to support hospitals. Please find attached. The ministry already approached UN agencies and the World Bank office in Georgia to explore the possibilities for assistance. The Government has allocated special funding to address needs. However, since there is some shortage on needed commodities globally it will be difficult for us to quickly obtain the listed items. Therefore, we would appreciate if you could further explore any possibility for assistance from USAID side.

Thanks for your consideration.

With kind regards

Tamar Gabunia
