Dear Silviu

Thanks a lot for sharing the report. Over the last few days we’ve been discussing the issue of reporting COVID19 cases from the occupied territories of Georgia. What does WHO advises in similar circumstances?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Best

Tamar

Subject: WHO mission to Abkhazia

Dear Tamar,

We’ve moved to Abkhazia for a second follow-up mission very fast, taking into consideration the latest developments, and we are still in Sukhumi now.

The report on the first mission was still under finalization – we worked on it on our way to Abkhazia and also here.

I attach for your information the final version.

Please, keep it for a very restricted circle and ask people not to share it further – this might seriously affect the trust WHO gained in Abkhazia and our further analysis and work here.

My strong belief is that the best way of working in Abkhazia is by keeping it very low profile and almost not visible, without public declarations and documents broadly shared.

If we do this, there are good chances we can achieve tangible progress and effectively support the dialogue and collaboration between the two sides.

We identified some progress in the response to COVID-19 here during our second mission and I will be happy to share with you when back, preferably in an individual meeting with you.

I will contact you on this early next week.

Thank you and best regards,

Silviu
