Dear Marine,
Your message below to Ana Paula was brought to my attention.
Please be informed that based on the current information available about COVID-19, WHO does not recommend any travel or trade restrictions. So far, there is no indication or evidence that COVID-19 transmits through fruits, vegetables, frozen goods or any other food product. From a public health and food safety perspective, you may wish to apply normal food import measures to the products at the border to Iran.
WHO is working closely with global experts, governments and partners to rapidly expand the scientific knowledge on this new virus, to track the spread and virulence of the virus, and to provide advice to countries and the global community on measures to protect health and prevent the spread of this outbreak. With escalating COVID-19 outbreaks outside of China, the situation is closely monitored and the recommendation may change.
For more detailed information about WHO’s recommendations to reduce risk of transmission of emerging pathogens from animals to humans in live animal markets, please see https://www.who.int/health-topics/coronavirus/who-recommendations-to-reduce-risk-of-transmission-of-emerging-pathogens-from-animals-to-humans-in-live-animal-markets

Subject: URGENT Covid 19 Georgia, safety recommendations for imported food from high risk countries
Dear Ana Paula,
I hope you are doing well, We have few questions concerning safety of imported food from high risk countries and would appreciate your help.
What are the regulations regarding Food products imported form high risk countries?
For example We have trucks coming from Iran on the border, loaded with fruits and vegetables, we can switch the drivers on the border and disinfect the trucks from outside, what are the recommendations about different types (fruits and vegetables, frozen goods) of products in the containers.
Thank you very much in advance.
Best regards,
