Dear Irma,
Thank you very much for your request. I am responding on behalf of Tatiana Vinichenko as I was authorized to do so.
We have reviewed the below Georgia CCM request to redistribute 50 units of UVGI devices procured under the tuberculosis program from the National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease to the Kipshidze University Clinic which will be the main facility for quarantine purposes of patients infected with COVID-19 and their close contacts.
We note that these devices are redistributed for temporary use to improve infection control and that this redistribution will not have a negative impact on TB care services.
Therefore, the requested redistribution of 50 units of UVGI devices is approved.
Warmest regards,
Vira Zemlyanska

Subject: Mitigate consequences of Covid-2019_Request_transfer of UVGI devices
Dear Tatyana,
Georgia is facing an increasing number of patients infected with COVID-19 and their close contacts in need of isolation. Apart from infectious disease hospitals, the government selected additional medical facilities to serve as quarantine zones. We have received a request from the Ministry of Internally Displace People, Labour, Health and Social Affairs and CCM approval to redistribute 50 units of UVGI devices procured under the Tuberculosis program from the National Center for Tuberculosis and Lung Disease to the Kipshidze University Clinic – the largest facility selected for quarantine purposes. Therefore, we request you kind approval to redistribute these devices for temporary use to improve infection control.
The situation is urgent and falls under the GF New Guidance in Response to COVID-19 recommending to redeploy resources to mitigate the potential negative consequences of COVID-19 on health and health systems, including particular attention to infection control. These 50 devices represent less than 10% of the total number procured and taking into consideration decreased TB hospital capacity will not have a negative impact on TB care services. Thus, we hope to receive a prompt reply.
Kind regards,
Irma
