Dear Silviu
Many thanks for sharing this. We’ve already included COVID 19 in the list of nationally notifiable diseases. However, we have another list approved by the Ministerial decree on EDPs and the discussion is about including COVID 19 in the list of EDP, this allows for most rigorous public health measures, including quarantine.
With kind regards
Tamar

Dear Tamar,
That’s what I got from Regional Office for the time being, but I might get more…
“COVID-19 should be included in the list of nationally notifiable diseases in GEO;
Countries should have a list of notifiable diseases based on national epidemiology and burden etc.; this list should include IHR-notifiable diseases and thus COVID-19 and should be reviewed regularly.
We do not recommend to use the categorization EDP as the severity and impact of a disease will depend on many factors/risk assessment.
Countries may group notifiable diseases based on modes of transmission (see EU categories in the attached example we worked on with UKR) or depending on what measures are required for a particular disease;”
Best regards,
Silviu

Dear Tamar,
I know for sure the recommendation is to Include COVID-19 as a mandatory notifiable disease.
In a way it is similar, but I will check further and let you know.
Best,
Silviu

Dear Silviu
I have a quick question. What’s WHO’s position on inclusion of SARS-COVID19 in the national list of dangerous pathogens? Any ideas would be helpful.
Best
