Dear Tamar,
I am going to send to the minister a request for nominating a Focal point on rehabilitation (our regional office needs this, as they already got nominations from the other two countries involved in the project).
Do you think this it is a proper moment for sending the request, or better to wait and discuss during our meeting next week?
Thank you!
Silviu

Dear Sopo,
Following your request, I had some consultations with Regional Office (Nino Berdzuli) and we are suggesting the following approach:
Both for the assessment of implementation of maternal and newborn health strategy and for the evaluation of implementation of cesarean section regulations, we’ll need to ensure proper data collection and analysis and such a task would be
best suitable for local exerts.
In this regard, we are going to engage local experts, familiar with the respective areas.
The whole work of local experts could be guided by our regional office. We also expect the MoH to play a supervisory/coordination role in the process of collecting and analyzing the data.
I will be out of Georgia for the next days, but I will work on the Terms of Reference for the local experts and I would appreciate having a short meeting with you and Dr Tamar Gabunia when back, preferably on Tuesday, 3 September, any time.
After the work of local experts on collecting and analyzing data is done, we’ll organize a Regional Office mission to the country - Dr Nino Berdzuli and colleagues are ready to visit Georgia on 11-13 October, to help in finalizing the
assessment and evaluation.
In the remaining period until the end of the year, we’ll provide additional support in drafting the new action plan and we might involve also UNICEF and UNFPA in the process.
Hope this preliminary plan is acceptable.
Looking forward to your answer and to a potential meeting on 3 September.
Thank you and best regards,
Silviu
