Dear Tamar,

There is a possibility to get assistance from our regional office in addressing COVID-19, in form of deployment of experts in specific areas, to work with national authorities.

A lab specialist has already been deployed to Azerbaijan and will cover the whole South Caucasus in case of need. Georgia has strong lab capacities in the sub-region and there was no need to deploy the expert here.

We had technical discussions with Dr Amiran yesterday on the progress in preparations for COVID-19 and existing gaps.

We think that Georgia might benefit from deployment of a specialist in hospital preparedness, and also maybe from specific support in updating the National Pandemic Preparedness Plan.

If you agree with this, I will request the mentioned support from our regional office.

Thank you and best regards,

Silviu
