Dear Tamar,
We had a look at the provided tables and below just few reflections/comments for your consideration.
Regarding the PPEs, it is our understanding that the summary sheet doesn’t include Abkhazia. Nothing is proposed for the region, or other sources will be used? Or maybe misunderstanding on our side?
Also not quite clear why 70% to go in 2021. We would rather suggest the vice-versa – 70% immediate needs and 30% mid-term investments.
Regarding laboratory testing, it is our understanding that this line includes also Abkhazia. It is also our understanding that our estimations for 2 months were used as a basis, and you indicated 200% and 600% to reflect the needs for longer
periods. Like for PPEs we would suggest the same – much more testing might be needed at current stage than in 2021. Even if we have a second wave or massive community transmission in 2021, the needs in testing will still diminish. So we would again reverse
the figures – 600% immediate and 200% mid-term. Also 600% might be overestimated (400% might be enough for 2020), but better to overestimate than underestimate.
Last, just a quick remark on Ruchi hospital – it is crucial to have enough health workers there, not just equipment. No possibilities to get funding for the staff salaries, at least at the initial stage? I know that in some countries donors
cover such type of costs… You might consider trying, unless you already have enough funding for the personnel.
Apart from the above, everything seems OK and you can share with donors, either as it is or with some adjustments.
With best regards,
Silviu

Subject: [EXT] COVID 19 Response Needs
Dear Silviu
As you know several donors are working with the GoG to assist us to COVID 19 response. Based on estimated needs you’ve provided earlier for PPE, ICU and lab, I’ve put together all estimates
for major items with an investment timeline based on urgency. Could you please take a look and advise if estimated needs for PPEs, ICUs and lab equipment can be distributed over time like I did in the attached Excel file. I’ve also attached the investment
needs brief for easy reference.
With kind regards
Tamar
