--------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to provide you an update on the May Governing Body meetings. As you may be aware, the Executive Board agreed recently through a written, silence procedure that:
In terms of next steps, the Secretariat will proceed with disseminating the invitation letters for WHA73 and EB147. Specific arrangements for the May meetings of the Health Assembly and Executive Board will
be shared in due course.
It is proposed that these meetings focus on the Covid-19 pandemic and items that are essential for governance business continuity. More specifically, in addition to procedural items, the Assembly would consider
the item on the Address by Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General, which would focus on the Covid-19 response, as well as an item on ‘Executive Board: election’. It is proposed that the Executive Board consider electing its Officers and take up an
item on Committees of the ‘Executive Board: filling of vacancies’. Technical items would be considered later in the year, including through resumed sessions of the governing bodies.
Abridged provisional agendas outlining these proposals will be posted on the GBS website (https://apps.who.int/gb/gov/) soon. Please
disseminate the above information within your departments and to relevant external partners/stakeholders as appropriate.
Best regards,
Tim
