Dear Tamar,

Please find below and attached information about a new WHO initiative – a digital module (online game) for children aged 10-12 to educate them about vaccines and immunizations.

It was pilot-tested in Denmark and Ukraine so far, and it is suggested now to pilot-test it further in additional four countries, including Georgia.

Let me know please if the idea is generally acceptable, so that I confirm to our colleagues in Regional Office they can reach out to the national immunization programme on this.

Thank you and best regards,

Silviu

Dear Silviu,

Greetings from Copenhagen and trust this email finds you well amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

Just to keep you posted that VPI has developed an educational module for children aged 10-12 on vaccines and immunization; a fully digital module that features an online game called the “Immune Patrol” aimed to increase students’ knowledge of infectious diseases and immunization and develop their skills to understand and assess credible health information.

Investing in developing trustworthy knowledge base of tomorrow’s decision-makers today is the umbrella concept and WHO EURO is leading this innovation.

The digital module has been pilot-tested and evaluated in two countries so far, Denmark and Ukraine, and with the GAVI post-transition grant, we are gearing up for the pilot-test in an additional four countries, including Azerbaijan and Georgia.

As we plan to reach out to the relevant national immunization programme managers for pilot implementation of this tool followed by an evaluation, we would like to keep you (and WHO Country Office) posted on this and discuss further the planned steps. An outline of the pilot-testing and evaluation process is attached in this email for your reference. A demonstration site for the Immune Patrol game is also available for your information: https://cgl-who.firebaseapp.com/

We very well understand how busy you and our national counterparts are during the COVID-19 times. Even though the pilot implementation and evaluation are planned during the last quarter of 2020, but we wanted to set the stage for a discussion ahead of time and start planning in next coming months.

Siff (copied here) is coordinating this work, and both Siff and I would be glad to provide further information linked to the activity.

We will be glad to discuss with you on the concept and hope you are ok with us to reach out to the national immunization programme on this.

Thanks,

Siddhartha
