Excellencies,
I hereby inform you that on December 4-5, 2019, the GAVI Alliance Board meeting was held according to the discussion material and agenda circulated earlier for comments. Please be aware that your comments were taken into consideration during the discussions and were very valuable (in particular, comments regarding the malaria vaccine, development of a strategy for middle-income countries). I would once again emphasize the importance and appreciate feedback and comments coming from developing countries Constituencies for making right and timely decisions at the global level.
For your information I am attaching a document that summarizes the decisions that this meeting has covered. I would like to draw your attention to some points, as one might say, GAVI's historic decisions to support further steps in the development of vaccines against Ebola and malaria. Another important development are changes in country program funding policies, such as removal of program filters, for example, that will provide countries with opportunities to introduce new vaccines and further strengthen their immunization programs.
I would like to mention that the process of renewal of GAVI Committees has been successfully resumed and candidates were approved during the December meeting. It is my pleasure to inform you that Dr. Tamar Gabunia Deputy Minister of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia. The full composition of all Committees is also presented in the attached document.
As the spirit of holiday season is starting to appear, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you success and prosperity in the upcoming New Year, and, wish a Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it!
Thank you.
