Dear Tamar, dear Beka,

As you know, the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) on behalf of the German government, provides the "Private Sector Development and Vocational Education in the South Caucasus” (PSD TVET SC) program in the South Caucasus, which supports Georgian government to improve the sustainable development needs, including needs related to employment. The main partner and owner of the program is the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia (MoESD). On the one hand, the program together with the MoESD considers the promotion of private business development and private-public dialogue and on the other hand, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, the program is focused on professional education reform, which implies the introduction of dual vocational education in relevant directions, such as, wine production, tourism, construction, ICT, transport and logistics.

As we are informed, the program PSD TVET SC also actively cooperates with the Ministry of IDPs, Labour, Health and Social Affairs from the occupied territories of Georgia (MOIDPLHSA) on Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) issues in the construction sector and in this direction several important projects were implemented. As of today, the development of OSH culture is one of the main challenge for our country. Therefore, in the framework of the program the development of OSH culture by addressing existing challenges is important.

As Labour Conditions Inspecting Department of the MOIDPLHSA implements state supervision under the Georgian Organic Law “on Occupational Safety”, our Ministry would welcome the MOIDPLHSA, as a partner government institute, to be considered as a receiver of the support from the PSD TVET program in developing the OSH culture.

Sincerely,

Genadi Arveladze
