Subject: Meeting with EBRD and ICS // Investment Climate Action Plan project
Dear Mrs. Barkalaia,
I am contacting you on behalf of the Georgian Investors’ Council Secretariat to inform you that a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) HO will be in Tbilisi on 2-4 October and would like to request a meeting with you on 2 October at 10:00 at your premises to discuss Investment Climate reform in Georgia.
The delegation is coming to Tbilisi to undertake consultations with key stakeholders from the government, private sector, civil society and international community for a project in which EBRD is collaborating with the European Commission under its EU4Business program to review the Investment Climate across the six Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). The objective of the project is to develop Investment Climate Action Plans for each country that identify constraints to the business environment and potential technical assistance activities that could be implemented to address them, for example relating to:
• Market accessibility, access to finance and rule of law/dispute resolution;
• Privatization and corporate governance reform;
• Sectoral policy interventions (e.g. unlocking energy markets; agribusiness/tourism);
• Promoting trade and FDI;
• Supporting women-led businesses.
The EBRD delegation will be led by Ms. Hester Coutanche - Principal Counsellor, EBRD, accompanied by Alexa Tiemann - Principal Sectoral Economist; Elena Ruiz Abril – Associate Director, senior gender advisor; Konstantine Kintsurashvili – Principal Regional Economist; Ana Kresic – Associate Regional Economist; and Christine Hagedorn, Investment Climate Analyst.
The delegation is very keen to meet with you as part of its stakeholder consultation and I would be grateful if you could confirm whether the above mentioned time is convenient for you
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Ana Surmava
