This is to inform you that the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Georgia have agreed to implement 50 million loan-funded project for education sector development - “Skills
for Better Jobs - Sector Development Program.”
In December 2019, ADB selected an international firm AARC to implement Transaction Technical Assistance (TRTA) for the “Skills for Better Jobs Sector Development Program.” The Inception Mission of the TA is fielded in Georgia
on January 13-23, 2020.
The objectives of the inception mission are to (i) meet with Government of Georgia officials, including the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport;
Ministry of Finance; Public-Private Partnership Center; Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, and its Municipal Development Fund, to discuss the proposed program; (ii) review and agree with Government of Georgia on a detailed implementation
plan for the transaction technical assistance, including key milestones and timelines for program preparation; (iii) meet with development and social partners to outline the possible design of the program and discuss coordination of assistance; (iv) visit
selected vocational education and training institutes; and (v) discuss the proposed program with the Country Director and staff of the Georgia Resident Mission. Also, on 21st of January, we will be organizing an inception workshop. We would inform you about
this shortly, providing more details.
The Inception Mission team is comprised of:
- Mr. Norman LaRocque, Principal Education Specialist/Mission Leader, Social Sector Division of CWRD, ADB HQ
- Mr. Herman Sonneveld, International VET Program Specialist, TA Team Leader
- Mr. Omon Narzikulov – Project Director, Associate Director of AARC Ltd.
- Ms. Rusudan Chanturia, National VET Program Specialist, Deputy Team Leader
- Ms. Thea Siprashvili, M&E Specialist.
During the Mission, we believe it will be of utmost importance to have a meeting with the
Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia and hear from you the recent developments at the Ministry, including issues related to skills development and employment.
We would kindly propose a meeting at your premises on January 20th (Monday), @ 17:00 p.m., if
