Dear Silviu,

We have been asked by HQ to follow up with WRs on the designation of focal points for a consultation on national estimates on violence against women. Georgia has not yet responded to the request. The deadline has been extended to 28 February.

HQ is planning to release country estimates on the prevalence of violence against women in June 2020 and have sent the following letter to all Geneva missions requesting a focal point within each country with whom we can consult on this data before its release. This data is part of the WHO impact framework and my programme is focal point for this indicator in EURO. This is the first time that WHO will release national estimates. Regional estimates were released in 2013.

The HQ letter is attached and email is below. The consultation will start as soon as there is a focal point and end in April.

Please contact us with any questions that you might have on this.

Best wishes,

Åsa

Dear WHO Mission Focal points,

In follow-up to C.L.50.2019 (attached) regarding the internationally comparable estimates for violence against women to be published in June 2020, and the consultation with countries on the process and development of these estimates, Member States are informed that the deadline for nomination of focal points has been extended to Friday, 28 February 2020 (original deadline was 20 January 2020).

For those who have not yet done so, and to ensure accurate and timely estimates for each country, Member States are reminded to designate the focal point(s) whose contact details should be sent to the Department of Sexual and Reproductive Health by emailing: vawestimates@who.int.

Any inquiries should be directed to vawestimates@who.int.

Best regards,

WHO Secretariat
