Dear Tamuna,

I was trying to get in touch with you to share information on a proposal UNCT is developing under a newly established SDG Fund. This first call focuses on identifying and activating policy tools that spark rapid progress across the SDGs by focusing on Leave No One Behind, and specifically Social Protection. The total envelope for this call is USD$60 million. Each Resident Coordinator is invited to submit one proposal for a joint programme on behalf of his/her UN Country Teams with a maximum budget of USD$2 million.

UNCT has put together the attached short concept note and intends to apply. It is all around inclusion of people with disabilities and builds upon the ratification of CRPD and the commitment to transform the predominant medical model into a social model. I think it would give us the resources to follow up on the Adjara pilot and indeed translate the experience there into a proper social policy reform. The deadline for submitting proposals is 6th May 2019.

As part of the submission process, we also need to provide endorsement letter from the national government. As the proposal falls pretty much within your portfolio, we were hoping that you can sign such a letter. We have in fact drafted it and attaching for you.

I sincerely apologize for the very short notice, but it took UNCT quite some time to agree on the focus and activities and develop acceptable document that we can share. If approved, we would then be required to submit a full proposal and will discuss all the components in detail with you.

Me and Gottfried are available should you have any questions.

Kind regards,

Milena
