Dear Tamuna,

I hope you are doing well and staying safe. It is very encouraging to see numbers of new cases going down as it gives us hope this will soon be over. We have not been able to meet for some time so I wanted to brief you on the progress of the pilot in Adjara.

Since January 2020, the pilot of the social model of disability assessment and status determination in Adjara has moved to the new phase that entails an in-depth analysis of the collected data. More specifically,

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the state of emergency, the fieldwork has been suspended on 10 March 2020. The pilot frontline team switched to the work-from-home mode due to the COVID-19 related circumstances. The team was focused on refining the interview data and case conference notes. They were also conducting online case conferences with other specialists and getting online supervision if needed. GASW, in close collaboration with UNICEF, continues to focus on the analytical aspect of the pilot entailing an in-depth analysis of the field work, "winner-loser", cost-benefit analysis and so forth.

We are in a process of contracting an international consultant to review the work in Adjara and advise us on the roll out plan. Same consultant will help us with the work on social entitlements.

If you are available, we would like to meet you next week and discuss a few issues mostly around the roll out – institutionalization of training programme and roll out to another region.

With kind regards,

Milena
