Dear Nutsi, Teona and Maia
Thank you very much. These arrangements look great. I wonder if you can send the addresses for the last two meetings? The ADB project team is making arrangements for the transport, lunch, translation (Georgian/Chinese) etc.
Look forward to receiving any further details on 2nd September.
Kind regards,
Jo

Greetings,
As promised we’re sending you draft agenda for the delegation (please find attached)
More detailed information will be sent to you on 2nd of September.
I would like to reiterate that we will need interpretation from Chinese to Georgia and back.
As I understand transportation and other logistical matter (lunch etc) are taken care of from the Chinese side.
Again sorry I will not be able to greet Chinese delegates myself.
I will be out of the office from tomorrow ‘till 9th and will not have access to mail.
Your contact people will be Ms. Teona Vardzelashvili and Ms. Maia Nikoleshvili from International Relations Division.
Regards and hope you’ll have a fruitful visit.

Thank you Jo.
We’ve already started setting up agenda and we’ll get back to you by Monday CoB with something concrete.
As for the administrative side of it. It would be great if they would have local interpreter, as staff at the ministry and SSA (could be with other NGOs and parliament) won’t be able to communicate in English, so Georgian Chinese interpretation should be provided.
As I understand other logistical matters are taken care of right?
Thanks
Nutsi

Thanks Nutsi, I understand it may not be possible to meet all these people, but it would be good to fit in as much as possible. I will check about the translation, but my understanding is that the group will be travelling with an interpreter or will be hiring an interpreter locally. I will let you know. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
Best regards,
Jo

Greetings Joanna,
We will start working on the agenda right away. We will try our best to accommodate your requests, though some of the participants might not be available as it is vacation time in Georgia, (school starts on 16th of September).
I don’t recall if we’ve talked about translation. I hope there will be somebody to translate as most of the people in the ministry and SSA speak Georgian.
I will ensure all arrangements are in place as I will not be in the country on those dates. Sorry I’ll miss the opportunity.
Kind regards and will get back to you with more details.

Dear Mariana and Nino

Thursday
5 September
Arrive Tbilisi 04.05 am
Friday
6 September
Tbilisi
Saturday
7 September
Tbilisi
Travel to Beijing- China Southern Airlines CZ6040 22:05-12:40
I have also been informed that one of the group members Mr Qi Chen will no longer participate and will be replaced by Ms. Zhang Jing, Principal Staff Member, Social Work Division of Department of Charity Promotion and Social Work, Ministry of Civil Affairs. If it is possible to send another invitation letter for Ms Zhange Jing, that would be very helpful. We are sorry for this last minute change and hope for your kind understanding.
As mentioned in previous correspondence with Deputy Minister Tamila Bakalaia, we hope that the study tour can provide exposure (observation, discussion, learning) for participants in relation to:
1. Social work services for children of all ages from birth up to 18 years of age: children with disabilities or chronic health conditions and their families, children and families living in poverty and social exclusion, children at risk of abuse, neglect and violence, children without adequate care or guardianship of their family.
2. Government and non-government (civil society) community based social work services that work with children when they are living with their parents, their wider family (such as grandparents or aunts/uncles), or with substitute families where their legal guardians are not relatives.
3. Social work policies and services that have demonstrated evidence of effectiveness and that are flexible in meeting a wide range of individual needs by supporting parents and families in the community to provide adequate care for their children. As part of the programme it would be great if they can meet with your Ministry and SSA, to visit municipal child welfare services and other SSA community services for children and families, meet with the Georgian Association of Social Workers and other NGOs and with the Parliamentary committee that is overseeing implementation of the new law on Social Work. The main focus will be on services delivered in the community and not in residential settings. Some exposure to small group homes or other residential services may however be useful to provide a full system overview. It may also be relevant to meet the Ministry of Education to talk about social workers in school settings.
I would be grateful if you can share a programme for the days that the group will be in Georgia. I can also help you to make arrangements for the programme if needed, please let me know if there is anything I can do.
With kind regards and looking forward to hearing from you.
Jo
